- Synthesia was engaged by Craftww to help JustEat transcreate their widely successful Snoop Dogg advertisement (+10m views) into the Australian market. We worked with Ridley Scott Studio to produce a campaign film for Malaria Must Die, and helped David Beckham speak over 9 languages.
- 1 day ago Synthesia, an AI video generation platform, is looking to make video content creation as simple and efficient as possible, and FirstMark is taking a bet on it making the world better, and not.
- Edit: Synthesia has grown quite a large video-base on Youtube, there are a lot of new tutorials with proper transcription and timing. The visualisation of the notes can help many beginner or intermediates to understand the structure and composition of the music!
Synesthesia or synaesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.
If you've ever wanted to easily learn how to play the piano, Synthesia is perhaps one of the easiest ways to help you do that. Using it is simple! Find your favourite midi files from the web and plug them in to Synthesia. The program will play back the instruments from the midi file and show you how to play them.
Using Sythesia to learn playing piano is pretty great because it allows you to go at your own speed and choose your own music. Sometimes finding the right midi file can be a pain, because often they contain too many instruments or the wrong keys. With that said, you can choose which instruments will be played and it will show you a preview of what keys should be pressed.
Plug in your Yamaha and place it infront of your computer screen, put your computer on mute and watch how the track is played. Start it off slow and gradually move up as you learn the notes and chords being played. Little previous knowledge on playing the piano is recommended, but definitely not required: it just may take a little bit longer.
Happy learning!

Synthesia is a piano keyboard trainer for Microsoft Windows, IOS, Mac OS X, and Android which allows users to play a MIDI keyboard or use a computer keyboard in time to a MIDI file by following on-screen directions, much in the style of Keyboard Mania or Guitar Hero. Additionally, Synthesia can be paired with MIDI keyboards that have illuminated keys, or with virtualplayer piano on screen, which some people believe makes learning piano easier for beginners. It was originally named Piano Hero, due to the similarity of gameplay with Guitar Hero; this was until Activision (the owners of the rights to Guitar Hero) sent a cease and desist to the program's creator, Nicholas Piegdon.[1][2]
History[edit]
Synthesia was started around 2006 by Nicholas Piegdon, and was originally named 'Piano Hero'. Hosted as an open-source project on sourceforge, it was released under the MIT license.
The program was originally for Windows-only, but after a donation drive in early 2007, it was ported to Mac OS X.[3]
Cease and desist letter[edit]
In a letter dated 26 March 2007, Activision requested that Piegdon 'immediately cease any and all use of the 'Piano Hero' name in connection with the distribution and promotion of [his] video game and agree not to use such in the future'.[4] Piegdon responded by hosting a contest for a new name for the project, resulting in the name, Synthesia, suggested by Daniel Lawrence.[5]

Continued development as closed-source project[edit]
After May 2012, Piegdon decided to stop releasing the source code, as he saw the potential commercial value of the program. However the last open-source release version 0.6.1b is still available for download.
In the continued commercial version the basic functionality was still freeware. A 'Learning Pack' key could be purchased to unlock the freemium additional features, such as a sheet music display mode. In December 2014, with Version 10 of Synthesia, the ability to use the program without purchasing it was removed, with the exception of several playable included demo MIDIs. However, an older version can still be downloaded, thus still being able to use the program for free.
Features[edit]
![Synthesia Synthesia](https://img.informer.com/p2/synthesia-v10.1-virtual-piano.png)
Synthesia has support for playing custom MIDI files, as well as linking with MIDI devices. Synthesia will rate the player's performance afterwards, and give a score which can be submitted to an online scoreboard. Synthesia also has a paid 'Learning Pack' that allows users to view music in musical notation, as well as multiple practice features, such as 'Melody Practice' which pauses the piece whenever the user misses a note, and only continues when the right note is played.[6]
